Health and Safety: We are required by law to take health and safety seriously – and we do

Summit Scaffolding Waikato are required by law to take health and safety seriously – and they do. It stands to reason that operating at height can be a dangerous business – not just for our install team, but also for ground staff and passerbys.
We’re pleased and proud to announce, however, that we’ve achieved a level of health and safety distinction that reflects our total dedication to operating within the industry directives we receive from governing body SARNZ (Scaffolding, Access and Rigging New Zealand Inc).

The SARNZ Good Practice 2016 Guidelines help us work to standard in the erection of scaffolding, edge protection, and containment. Following these guidelines is a legal expectation, as set out by the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and we are assisted in how best to fulfil that mandate by Site Safe NZ, whose philosophy is: “Getting Kiwi workers home safe to their whānau at the end of each day …”

This worthy objective is actioned by Site Safe’s encouragement for our workers to participate in ongoing training to ensure job practices remain safety-oriented, and that all members of our team work towards creating a positive on-site culture.

Having such clear health and safety boundaries creates a trackable follow-on effect

Having such clear health and safety boundaries creates a trackable follow-on effect through each of Summit’s processes, from first point of contact to job done. The standards set allow us to work confidently, fully aware of how to achieve peak performance whilst operating in the safest possible manner.

The requirements for the erection and dismantling of scaffolding are complex, yet simple. Our team are specialists in the scaffolding industry, and while there’s no such thing as “one size fits all”, once a job has been eyed, a design created, and a system in place, it’s pretty much all plain sailing from there on in.

We are obliged to follow through with compliance on:
The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA)
The Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995 (HSE Regulations)
Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016 (GRWM Regulations)
SARNZ Good Practice Guidelines for Scaffolding in New Zealand 2016.

Testimonials

“The job was a new roof on my home.

Using the floor plan Summit were able to plan the required scaffold, erected quickly and then were on site early to take it down.

My team was able to focus on the re-roofing and they felt safe at all times.
